Activity: focus sound today is y

How to do it: Say the sound y and say down a horn, up a horn and under his head. Children practise writing this sound. Fred talk these words

Spelling: The children can have a go at writing the words. Say the word yes. Ask how many sounds in that word, hold up your fred fingers. Say the word yes and pinch the sounds on your fingers. Children have a go at writing that word down. Repeat process for words with y in.  

If you find it tricky:  Model the writing process first. 

Challenge: 

Spell words like path, stop, land, pond. Choose one of the words and write a sentence using that word
