Autumn 1
Week 7
This week, children have continued learning all about 'People Who Help Us'. This allowed the children to discover that 'teachers' are people that help them every day. When completing their Life Skills lessons, children made Gingerbread Men and were able to design these using icing pens with the support and encouragement of their teachers.
Children followed set instructions to ensure that food safety was being kept up in Butternut.
Week 6
This week, children have been focusing on 'People Who Help Us'. Children created an image in Let's Be Creative that allowed them to show the different people that help us throughout our life.
Week 5
This week, children have continued the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff, learning all about the vocabulary used in the story. The children have also engaged with Forest School Week and enjoyed exploring the outdoors!
Week 4
This week the children are enjoying our new story hook of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and are looking forward to putting some actions to the words in the story.
We have also finished our 'All About Me!' unit of learning and next week, we will be starting a new unit in the afternoons all about 'People Who Help Us'.
As parents/carers it would be a great introduction if you could identify people who help in the community and talk about them on your travels?
Week 3
The children are really settling back into Butternut Class routines and are enjoying exploring the provision in class, alongside completing their task box learning. They are particularly enjoying our Sensory Room, using our interactive touch walls.
Week 2
This week in Butternut, we have continued to explore the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children have been learning the line 'Run, run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man' and have shown great enthusiasm in engaging with the story. This week, the children have had opportunities to learn about Bare Trees' STAR rules as well as the classroom rules and learning to express how they are feeling through our 'Communication Wall' and 'Feelings Wall' to show what they need and feel. This has allowed pupils in Butternut to show the staff and their peers what they would like to explore and engage in different parts of provision daily to support their learning style.
Week 1
To begin a new term in Butternut, we have been exploring the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'.
The children have spent time sequencing the story with our very own Gingerbread Man in the classroom. In the afternoons, children have been exploring our Enhanced Provision, including our different areas: Fine Motor, Water Play, Sand Play, The Sensory Room, Maths Area, Phonics Area and our Playdough Area. The children have enjoyed engaging in different areas of the provision, showing the staff in Butternut things that they would like to choose during 'Discovery Time'. The children have arrived back to school ready to learn and are continuously making their teacher proud!
