Spring 2

Week 1

This term, we are learning all about Colours and Shapes. Our focus story for the next two weeks is Brown Bear, Brown Bear ,What Do You See? by Eric Carle. We have been enjoying learning the story and we are even beginning to remember this story from memory. So far, the children in Butternut are enjoying the story engaging with Creative, Fine Motor and Sensory Play linked to the story itself.

Week 2

The continuation of Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? has created a full enjoyment of learning this week in Butternut. Children have engaged with role playing the characters and remembering the story from memory. There have been a number of activities within our continuous provision this week and the children have particularly enjoyed makiing patterns to fit the sequence of the story.

Week 3

This week in Butternut, the children have began exploring the story, The Colour Monster. The children have enjoyed reading the story and are beginning to recite this independently. Furthermore, the children in Butternut are enjoying Continuous Provision activities that apply to the story and focusing on the ‘Colour’ aspect of our Colour and Shapes theme this half term.

Week 4

This week, the children have continued learning the story ‘The Colour Monster’. This has allowed the children to use the different primary colours, red, yellow and blue, to create pictures of The Colour Monster within our Creative Activity and applying colours in our afternoon topic ‘Colours and Shapes’ to create their own rainbow pictures. The children have also enjoyed our Attention Autism sessions this week, recapping on our Hungry Caterpillar story through the items in the box.
