Spring 1
Welcome Back, Year 6!
We hope you had a lovely holiday and are ready for the Spring term. We’re looking forward to an exciting term of learning!
Week 5
Year 6 have been composing their own music this week. We have created our compositions to accompany a piece of blues music. Using flat notes has helped to create the 'blues' sound that we need.
Week 4
This week, Year 6 have been learning about how WWII affected the local area. This included learning that on Christmas Eve, 1944, a German V-1 bomb landed on Abbey Hills Road, destroying houses; causing injuries and claiming the lives of 27 people.
Week 3
Year 6 were introduced to a narrative that will inspire their next piece of writing through drama. We created a conscience alley; tableaus and improvised before reading the story itself.
Week 2
This week, we have been thinking about why we see things. We created a tube; switched all the lights out and placed a counter at the bottom of the tube - we could not see it. Then, we put a hole in the tube and pointed a torch at it. We were able to see it! This was because the light travelled in a straight line through the hole to the counter. It then reflected off the counter and entered our eye.
Week 1
Year 6's new class reader is The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q Rauf which we have started to read this week. In April, we will be going to The Lowry Theatre in Salford to watch this performed on the stage.
