Week 1

This week, we welcomed the children into Reception. The children were incredibly brave coming into their classrooms and meeting their new teachers. We spent the first 3 days learning about each other and exploring our new classrooms.

Week 2

This week, we have been thinking about ourselves. We have been looking at the different features on our faces and comparing them with our friends. We learned that we are all different and unique and that is something to be celebrated. We then created portraits in the style of the artist Pablo Picasso.

Week 3

This week, we have been exploring how we have changed since we were babies. We talked about all the things that babies do and all of the things they need. We then talked about what the children can do now they are older and we made comparisons. The children even had a chance to think about what they want to be when they are older. We have had a lovely week of learning in Reception.

Week 4

This week, we have started learning about 2D shapes. We focused our learning on circles and triangles. We started to think about the properties these shapes have and then we went on a shape hunt around school to find these shapes in our everyday environment. The children then made their own 'shape monsters' and could name the shapes they had used.
