Task Three

Mathematics (30 Minutes)

 

Activity: Find the total of objects by adding them together. 

How to do it: Get objects from around your house it could be, toys, crayons, pieces of fruit, anything you can find. Give some to your child and some to yourself. Ask the child to find the total. Prompt them to find out how many there is altogether. Once they have found the total use language such as 3 add 2 is 5 altogether.  Repeat with different combinations. 

Examples of how to complete this activity:

If you find it tricky: Model first. Make sure you touch each object and carry on counting to find the total. 

Challenge: Use up to 20 objects.
