Spring 2
This week in Year 4 we have been putting our practical skills to use by making mini greenhouses. We worked in our table groups to measure and saw our wooden dowels, we then used a glue gun with our teacher's help to stick our greenhouse together. Our final step was putting on the plastic sheets. This required team thinking to decide how we wanted to stick our sheets on. We tried cutting the sheets and sticking them with the glue gun and we also tried wrapping our frame with a large sheet of plastic. We found both to be efficient but wrapping the sheet was quicker and more air tight.
Aspirations Day
This week we had a visit from professional cricketer Gary Yates. He came to speak with us about his cricket career for our aspirations day. He brought some of his equipment with him and we were allowed to touch the helmet, shin pads and a corky ball.
We all had a great time and were able to share our own experiences of playing cricket
Digestion experiment
This week in science we have been looking at the digestive system. We re-created the process of digestion with a weetabix, a pair of tights, a plastic bag and some coloured water. This was a very fun but messy activity that we all enjoyed.
Self respect and importance word mats
This week in PSHE we have been looking at self respect and the things which make us who we are. We considered the key words and people who influence us positively and created a word mat.
Creating shadows
This week we have been looking at our new text. This is a tale of fear and we started by creating tin foil shapes to make shadows.
