Bare Trees Primary School

Spring 2

Week 1

This week in Butternut, we have been exploring the story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. The children have been feeding the bears porridge, singing the story and acting out the story. They can even identify the characters from the story and helped to make a story map!

Week 2

This week we have had World Book Day! We all came dressed as different characters and spent time making cornflake cakes to replicate the Gruffalo. We finished our story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' and explored Forest School!

Week 3

This week, we have started a new story called 'I Love Animals' and have visited the animals in our very own school including the chickens and the rabbits. We had a look at the animals and then came back to practice our Makaton sign 'I Love Animals' story.

Week 4

This week we have had some fantastic visitors in school for our Aspirations Day.  This meant that, on Monday, we met a dancer called Amy.  This was an exciting experience for us where we were able to learn and practise a new dance routine together.  We plan to continue to practise and perfect our new dance in Butternut Class.

We also currently have more special guests in Butternut in the form of little caterpillars, which are helping us to learn about the lifecycle of a butterfly.  By looking after and observing our new caterpillar friends, we can see every stage of this magical lifecycle.  This week they have started to form into chrysalises and we can't wait to see the beautiful butterflies emerge in a couple of weeks.

Week 5

This term, we have worked incredibly hard! We have explored different animals through all the different stories and enjoyed joining in with different activites in Butternut! We have watched the caterpillars grow and go into their cocoons. This term, we have really enjoyed Water Play and learning about different animals that live in the water. Miss Shirley is really proud of all the children in Butternut for working so hard!
