Autumn 2

Week 5

This week in Year 2 we rehearsed our song for the term (Ho Ho Ho by Joanna Mangona) with glockenspiels. We are all so happy with how hard the children are trying, especially when switching from singing to playing an instrument during the song.

Week 4

This week we had a very special treat, when a theatre company came it and performed 'The Magic Porridge Pot'. It was really interactive and the children loved the songs and puppets that were used as well as a miniature shadow puppet theatre that was really effective.

Week 3

This week was very exciting, at the start of this half term we received a special letter from the fire station asking if Year 2 can help them to work out what is the best material to build a house from, that is fire resistant. Over the past three weeks we have planned an experiment and made predictions (using our knowledge of materials and properties) as to what material is best. We built 3 miniature houses out of cardboard, wood and brick and set them on fire to observe which is the better material.

Week 2

This half term in Computing, Year 2 is learning about Coding. In this weeks lesson we used events and sprites to retell the story of The Princess and the Frog.

Week 1

This half term in Geography, we are asking ourselves 'Would you prefer to live in a hot or cold place?'

In this lesson Year 2 used Atlases to help locate and name the 7 continents, as well as learning how to use an Atlas.
