Number

This term, we have been exploring numbers. We have look at the composition of numbers 6 to 9 and explored different ways of making and showing these numbers through markings and objects found in the environment. The children have highly enjoyed exploring the different numbers and have created their own number walls to show different ways that they can make these numbers.

When exploring numbers, we like to use books. For the number 6, we used the book 'Six Dinner Sid' and the children found it amusing how much Sid ate. They explored how many houses he had dinner at, how many times he went to the vets, and how many horrible tablespoons of medicine Sid had to have. After reading the story, the children enjoyed creating their own Aristotle Street and numbered their houses correctly.
