Autumn
So far in September, the children have been busy settling into their new class. We have learnt the school routine and rules. The teachers have enjoyed learning all about the children. We have learnt about their interests, their family and what makes them happy. All children have so far enjoyed exploring the Reception learning landscape.
The children have now started Read Write Inc. The children have loved learning a new sound each day. So far, the children have learned all Set 1 sounds. The children have loved learning the story of a number through Numberblocks. We have focused on the story of 1 and 2. You can help support your child at home by watching the Numberblocks episode. The focus books this half term
In Reception this half term we are focusing on Rhyme. Each week we will choose a Julia Donaldson book to read with the children. These are the books we have chosen:

- The Smartest Giant in Town
Each class will display the story of the week in the Reading Area.

Second half of Autumn
This half term our topic is 'You Choose'. We are leading with the children's interest. For the first week we have focused on the book 'The Naughty Bus'. The children have really enjoyed the book.
The children have started writing initial sounds and CVC words. All the teachers are very impressed with the children's writing. Well done Reception!
*NEW* Weddings
This week the Reception children have chosen to learn about Weddings. The children are very busy designing cakes, writing guest lists, making a seating plan and creating hair styles fit for Brides and Bridesmaids.
Our focus story this week is 'Scarecrows Wedding' by Julia Donaldson.
The Reception Teachers have asked other staff members in the school to share their wedding photos. The children have loved looking at those photos. We would love to see pupils' photos of Weddings that they have been to.
