Autumn 2

Week 5

On Monday, Year 6 had the privilege to meet Antony Cotterill, a paralympian. He trained our Year 6 pupils on doing a short circuit workout. They thoroughly enjoyed the day. They were inspired by his story, which will hopefully help our pupils to continue to develop their resilience and perseverance.

Week 4

In PSHE, this week, pupils learnt about the importance of friendships; how to develop strategies for building positive friendships and understand how positive friendships support wellbeing. Part of their task was to create a poem, which included a recipe of what makes a good friend.

Week 3

Our topic in History is 'The Victorians'. This week, pupils explored the main change in transport and whether everyone benefitted from it. They wrote a paragraph selecting what, in their opinion, were the most important arguments for and against the railway and gave reasons why using their historical knowledge.

Week 2

In Spanish, Year 6 are developing a bank of vocabulary and descriptive phrases to describe items of clothing. This week, pupils completed their table with the correct forms of each adjective, applying the rules that they learnt using their knowledge organisers to support them.

Week 1

In Art, this term, year 6 will be practising the skills needed to create monoprints using gel printing plates. We will also have the opportunity to look at artwork by William Morris - a British designer, poet, artist and writer who lived during the Victorian era - link to this half term’s history topic. William Morris used woodblock printing to create intricate printed designs.
