For this half term in school, we will be thinking and learning about celebrations. We will be exploring celebrations around the world and different religious celebrations, recognising why they are important to others and how they are celebrated. We will be comparing celebrations and recognising similarities and differences between them.

Halloween
The children have explored the celebration of Halloween. They have learnt how people traditionally celebrate Halloween and compared how this is celebrated around the world. They have explored and taken part in traditional Halloween celebrations by pumpkin carving, creating decorations and comparing photographs of different countries Halloween celebrations. Bonfire Night
The children have explored a new celebration, Bonfire Night. They have searched into how this night is celebrated and why this night is important to people in the United Kingdom. To celebrate this night, the children have created their own firework pictures, shared their own experiences of the celebration and discussed safety in the dark. Christmas
The children have explored the celebration of Christmas. We discussed how Christians celebrate Christmas and the importance of the Nativity story. The children loved decorating a Christmas tree. We explored the Nativity story through our Christmas performance of Whoops-A-Daisy Angel. The children absolutely loved learning the songs.
