Activity: focus sound today is h

How to do it: Say the sound h and say ‘down the horse over the horse. Children practise writing that sound. Fred talk these words:

 

h-a-t

h-e-n

h-o-p

 

The aim is for the children to blend those sounds and be able to say the word. 

 

Spelling: The children can have a go at writing the words. Say the word hat. Ask how many sounds in that word, hold up your fred fingers. Say the word hat and pinch the sounds on your fingers. Children have a go at writing that word down. Repeat process for words with h in.

 

If you find it tricky: Model the writing process first.
