In Summer Term 1, Mrs. Watson and Miss. Swan have implemented a HeartStart Club at lunchtime on Wednesday (12.30 pm – 1 pm) for Year 5 pupils.

 

HeartStart is a national programme, aimed at teaching emergency first aid skills designed to help casualties until emergency services arrive.

 

The course included teaching pupils how to: call 999 in an emergency, place a casualty in the recovery position, help a person who is experiencing a suspected heart attack, deal with choking and serious bleeding. 

 

The HeartStart Club has equipped the pupils with the necessary skills to aid a casualty in an emergency situation and increased their confidence.
