Year 2 Trips To Formby Beach.
This week Chestnut class and Cedar class have been to Formby beach.
We enjoyed beach activities such as collecting shells and building sandcastles.
After our beach games we discussed the physical and human features that there are on Formby beach such as sand dunes, wind turbines and the coastal boardwalk path.
Next, we ate our lunch on the beach, the hungry seagulls that were watching us from above made us giggle!
Finally, we visited the red squirrel reserve at Newby’s Wood. We didn't spot any squirrels but we had great fun investigating the different types of habitats and microhabitats that there are.
Cherry class can't wait for their turn next week, neither can the staff.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for some good weather!
International Mud Day.
On Friday this week we celebrated International Mud Day. This entailed an afternoon full of activities that included mud and mud play, some of which included mud painting, digging (in the mud) and sliding down the Bare Trees mud slides. We had great fun !
Sports Week
This week we celebrated Health and Sports Week. The pupils had a fantastic week competing against other classes from their year group in different games and races.
Children took part in relay races, egg & spoon races, wheelbarrow races, penalty shoot outs, welly throwing, sack races and much more! It was really nice to see the children’s competitive nature alongside some members of staff.
The Year 2 children particularly enjoyed the wheelbarrow race, thank you to those parents who also joined in some of the races!
Science
The children in Year 2 carried out their Science investigation this week. Our results showed that the majority of woodlice preferred the dark and damp habitat, after 10 minutes the most number of woodlice were in the dark and damp habitat. The children were very brave collecting woodlice and putting them into our choice chamber.
Science
The children in Year 2 have set up choice chambers ready to investigate which habitat woodlice would prefer. We have made predictions on which habitat we think woodlice would prefer. Watch out for our results next week!
