This half term Reception are learning about Traditional Tales. Below is the knowledge organiser for Traditional Tales and the medium term plan.

Rainbow Factory

Reception went on the trip to Rainbow Factory. https://www.rainbowfactorykids.com/

Tuesday 14th January - Apple Tree

Wednesday 15th January - Ash Tree

Thursday 16th January - Alder Tree

The pupils adored this trip. They had so much fun. The children were behavd beautifully which was commented on by the trip staff.

Look at the fun we had during the day. First of all we had to check if we had magic, we checked the children first then it was the teachers turn.

In the afternoon we acted out the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children loved being actors.

We ventured into the Storyland forest to look at other fairy tale stories.

Look at the activities we got up to. The children had so much fun exploring Rainbow Factory.

Look at the amazing Rainbow Factory.

Knowledge organiser for the second half of Spring

Jack and the Beanstalk

The children loved acting out this story at The Rainbow Factory so the teachers decided that this was going to be the next book we focus on. We got a very special delivery from Miss Oldham, an exciting envelope was on my Miss Oldhams desk. She brought them down to Reception, inside was magic beans. One of the children had a fabulous idea. He wanted to try planting one. Look at the magic beans that we planted. The children have been watering the magic beans. They have grown so much since we planted them.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

The children have really enjoyed the two weeks we have focused on Goldilocks. During the first week, we went into detail of the story, we looked at the vocabulary and discussed the moral of the story. In the second week, we helped Goldilocks say sorry to the Three Bears. The children came up with the idea of making cakes for Valentine's Day. Goldilocks would send the cake to the Three Bears.

But first, we must buy the ingredients for the cakes. A group of children went to Asda with Miss Carling and Miss Begum. We used the lists we made at school to ensure we didn't forget anything.

The next day all of the Reception children used the ingredients to make cakes, decorate biscuits and cakes. Look at us having fun.
