Bare Trees Primary School

History

We have looked at the history of Oldham and how Chadderton used to look. The children looked at old and new buildings and also old and new toys. The children were very excited to bring in their own toys from home and compare them to the toys children would have played with in the past. We found most of the olden day toys were made from wood and found that they were not electronic. When comparing with toys we have today we found that toys these days are mainly made from plastic and often have electronic features. We looked at some classic toys from the olden days including a wooden yoyo, a spinner and a cup/ball from the Oldham Gallery. The children also made their very own cup/ball using card, string, tape and beads.
