Autumn 1

During Autumn 1 in English the children have been exploring the story 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'. They have been working:

  • To become familiar with the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’
  • To recognise the predictable phrases in the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt' 
  • To create sounds to represent the predictable phrases in the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ 
  • To perform the story of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ using action and sounds I have chosen

 

 

Autumn 2

 

During Autumn 2 in English the children in Year 1 have been writing about their walk around Chadderton. They have been working:

  • To recognise the features of a diary. 
  • To use adverbs to write a diary about their walk around Chadderton. 
  • To create a plan for writing their diary.
  • To write a recount in the form of a diary, about their walk around Chadderton.

Spring 1

During Spring 1 in English the children in Year 1 have been having a go at retelling the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. They have been working:

  • To retell the story of the ‘Three little pigs’ using actions.
  • To retell the story ‘The three little pigs’ using a story map.
  • To retell a story using a story map by substituting.
  • To retell a story using a story map by adding description. 
  • To retell a story using a story map by making alterations to the beginning and ending of the story.
  • To retell a story by creating a story map.
