Summer 1
Week 1
In Maths this week, we have been learning about mass. We used balancing scales to figure out what items and objects within our classroom were heavier or lighter and discussing why, we looked at whether the size of the item mattered or not and had a go at putting items in order from lightest to heaviest or heaviest to lightest.
Week 2
This week in maths we have been learning about volume and capacity. We looked at different diagrams and explain whether they were full, half full, nearly full as well as empty and nearly empty.
Week 3
In computing we are looking at coding. We looked at different coding methods that helped program a story. We also learnt how to debug the code when it went wrong and needed to be fixed for it flow properly.
Week 4
For our PSHE lesson we looked at who can we go to if we ever feel worried about something. We discussed who and what a trusted adult is and why they are an important person to go to when we feel worried.
Week 5
This week in English we have been writing a set of instructions. We have been looking at instructions all term leading up to writing our own. We chose between, How to make a glass of squash, How to play duck duck goose and How to wash your hands.
We used all our knowledge over this term to finish and produce our own set of instructions for someone to follow.
Week 6
This week, we celebrated Culture Fest! Each year group was given a different festival and we had the opportunity to host and present to other children in our school as well as visit other classes ourselves. In Year 1 we had Chinese Near Year! We created lanterns as our activity and told our visitors lots of information about Chinese New Year, we had such a fun day!
