Step into Spring

Our story this half term is Jasper's Beanstalk

Jasper's Beanstalk

A story about a cat called Jasper who finds a bean one morning, but despite all the attention he lavishes on it all week, the bean refuses to grow, but a long time afterwards, Jasper receives a happy surprise. Illustrated in colour by Mick Inkpen.

Jasper's Beanstalk

The children were very excited to review our garden CCTV this week after noticing something unusual near the beanstalk. To their amazement, they spotted Jasper the cat exploring the area! He appeared to be carefully looking at the beanstalk, walking around it, and even giving it a little cuddle. This sparked lots of wonderful discussion, storytelling, and imaginative thinking among the children as they shared their ideas about why Jasper might be so interested in our growing plant.

British Science Week

Our little scientists have been very busy! After our wonderful Stay and Play sessions, our nursery is now home to dozens of tiny seeds and handmade mini-greenhouses. We are full of curiosity: What will happen next? How long will it take to wake up? We are watching closely every day to see how our seeds transform.

Minibeast

  • The Great Minibeast Hunt: We grabbed our magnifying glasses and headed outside! The children showed fantastic curiosity, peering under logs and searching through the bushes to find beetles, worms, and snails in their natural habitats.
  • Digital Creators on Purple Mash: Back in the classroom, we took our inspiration to the screen. Using Purple Mash, the children designed their very own unique minibeasts.
