Summer 2
Week 1
This week in Butternut, the children have began exploring the story '10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes' which is all about being a small baby and counting 10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes. The children have explored the story during their focus tasks, turning the pages and learning new vocabulary from the story. The story has also supported our continuous provision this week, where children have practiced making faces using a cut and stick technique, as well as building houses through our sensory and physical play to think about 'Where we Live'. The children have also been exploring upcoming celebrations including Eid and have made Eid cards this week.
Week 2
This week in Butternut, we have continued learning about the story '10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes' whilst enhancing our vocabulary with the song 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'. Excitingly, we have been exploring the body parts in our Continuous Provision this week, whilst also making smiley face biscuits in our Life Skills lessons on Friday.
Week 3
In Butternut, our theme is All About Me. This week we have explored the different body parts using the song 'If You're Happy and You Know It' and the Non-Fiction text 'All About Me'. This has taught us how to make use of our body parts when singing a song, using our task sheet to point to which action we would like to do. We have also been very creative this week, making our very own handprint frames and a small, paper version of ourself.
Week 4
This week in Butternut, we have continued learning the non-fiction text 'All About Me'. We have began to explore the story through sensory play, using silly foam and jellibaff to see, smell and touch. Our continuous provision this week has had different arts and crafts as well as lots of sensory play for us to use our senses and enhance our vocabulary further!
Week 5
This week in Butternut, we have used the continuous provision to go on a hunt for our faces. We placed a picture of each of our faces in the sand and we had to find these using vocabulary 'This is me'. This week, we have also been creating our very own Hungry Caterpillar using our 10 Little Fingers and linking back to our learnt stories over this year.
