Spring 2
Week 6
This half term, the children in Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed designing a collage inspired by Dawn Maciocia. The subject of the collage was endangered animals, linking to our Science topic. We're sure you will agree that the results are amazing!
Week 5
This week Year 5 were able to explore our pond and surrounding areas during their Geography fieldwork. We were lookint at how we can protect our marine environments and surveying how much and what types of litter we could find. Finally, we presented this information in a pie chart.
Week 4
This week, we took our Spanish lesson outside and played an ancient Mayan ball game, "pitz". Pupils could only speak in Spanish, however, so we learned various instructions and motivational language to encourage our teammates.
¡Vamos!
Week 3:
During British Science Week, Year 5 had a fantastic time exploring the world of natural science. They learned about the inspiring work of Dr. Jane Goodall, a renowned natural scientist, and took inspiration from her studies of animal behaviour. Pupils became natural scientists themselves, observing the animals in our school and carefully noting their behaviours. They asked thoughtful questions to deepen their understanding and enjoyed their time in the Forest School room.
Week 2: This week we have been celebrating World Book Day. Year 5 were asked to learn more about the author Thomas Taylor, who wrote our class story 'Malamander'. Read below to find out more:
Week 1:
The children have loved exploring our portal story model text, The Time-Slip Scarab. To bring history to life, they took part in engaging drama activities during our 'hook' lesson, fully immersing themselves in the time period. It was a fantastic experience for everyone!
Below are the exciting drama activities:
