Bare Trees Primary School

Summer 1

Week 1

This week in Butternut, we have started our brand new topic on Animals. We have been learning the story 'Farmer Duck', where we have explored different vocabulary. This has helped us understand what different farm animals say such as 'Moo, Baa, Cluck and Quack'.

Week 2

This week we have continued learning the story, Farmer Duck. In our continuous provision, we used sand to explore the different animals, whilst making use of our Fine Motor Area. We have also spent time at Forest School to support our sensory play and have made use of our new trampoline in school.

Week 3

In Butternut this week, we have been exploring a brand new story about zoo animals called 'Dear Zoo'. The story is about a person that writes a letter to the zoo to send them a pet and has allowed us to learn some of the zoo animal names. This has allowed our continuous provision to involve fine motor finger painting, written vocabulary of the animals and also allowed us to be creative in our afternoon sessions. On Thursday, we learnt all about VE Day and made some paper chains using the colours red, blue and white.

Week 4

This week we have continued learning the story Dear Zoo. We have explored the characters and this has helped us form our vocabulary word mats during our Fine Motor Skills sessions.

Week 5

This week we have started a new story called 'Hooray For Fish!' which is about a fish that travels through the sea meeting different types of fish. We have engaged in sensory play to find the different types of fish including spotty fish and stripy fish.

We have also been explore shapes and matching the shapes together in our Maths activity and this has helped us in our afternoon activities to create our own images of fish.
