Autumn 2
Week 7
This week the children have enjoyed lots of Christmas activities as we come to the end of a busy and successful year. As always we are grateful for your support throughout the Autumn term. We look forward to welcoming the children back for a fresh start and a successful new year. We wish you a safe, restful and happy holiday break.
See you in 2026!
Week 6- Smelly code
This week in computing we looked at smelly code. Smelly code is a set of coding which just doesn't 'smell' right. It was Year 2's task to find out what the bug was in the code and fix it so that their programme ran smoothly. We all thoroughly enjoyed this and managed to crack the smelly code.
Week 5- Do we live in a hot place or a cold place?
This week in Geography we were answering the question: Do we live in a hot place or a cold place? We went outside to take a photo of the weather that day, we also used a thermometer to check the temperature and used a rain gauge to check the amount of rain which had fallen overnight.
We decided that we live somewhere that is both hot and cold at different times of the year and learnt the word temperate to describe our weather and the climate we live in.
Week 4- Innovation and toolkit writing
This week we have using a picture stimulus to help us with our English writing. We have been focussing on how a trip to the park one day turns an ordinary slide into a magical sparkling slide which reaches high into the sky. We will be using the work we complete this week to help us write an alternative Jack and the Beanstalk tale with our sparkling slide instead of our towering beanstalk.
Week 3- Which material would be best for building a house?
This week we conducted an investigation which looked at which material would be best for building a house and would be fireproof. Our chosen materials were wood, cardboard and brick. We took our houses down to the firepit at forest school and watched to see which house was the most fireproof.
Video incoming.
Week 2- Why do we pray?
This week Year 2 have been looking at why we pray and the things that we might pray for. We will be looking at different religions over this module and looking at the similarities and differences in the way that they pray.
Week 1- Adding a 1 digit number to a 2 digit number crossing 10
This week Year 2 have been looking at adding a 1 digit number to a 2 digit number. We used concrete materials and worked in pairs to find the answers.
