Autumn 1
Week 7:
For National Forest School Day we took our learning outside! For Spanish pupils in Year 6 have been learning about clothes. Children used their creativity to make a figure with leaves, twigs and anything else they could find outdoors. They then even described these figures and what they wore in Spanish!
Week 6:
This week saw the boys start the School Premier Football League. The boys had made a tremendous start to their league campaign with the A team winning both games 6-0 and 4-1, leaving them second in the league after game week 1 just behind on goal difference. B team had made just as much of a great start, going up in both games. However, agonisingly letting slip of both leads and unfortunately losing both games. Some very good football being displayed from both teams and some amazing independent performances too!
Week 5:
This week we had David Saville, a Christian, from the local church joining us for RE. David had spoke to the children regarding Christianity, and shared how his faith helps him to stay resilient. A very interactive learning using Jenga blocks and learning about his 5 Ps that enables him to stay resilient!
Week 4:
Year 6 enjoyed a brilliant Times Tables Rockstars Day! It was wonderful to see so many pupils dressed as their Rockstars avatars and other rock legends, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm. The Children participated in various games and challenges on the Time Tables Rockstars platform, all aimed at boosting their speed and confidence with multiplications facts. A solid grasp of time tables is crucial in Maths, so it's important for pupils to continue practising regularly to maintain and sharpen their skills.
Week 3:
As part of our English writing unit, Year 6 have been learning the suspense tale 'Kidnapped' using text mapping.
They have enjoyed working together, discussing the story, and spotting any interesting words or phrases. Text mapping has helped them learn the text really well and it will give them great ideas for writing their own suspense tale.
Week 1 - Week 2:
A wonderful start to Year 6!
Our Year 6 pupils have transitioned wonderfully into the new academic year. They've adapted quickly, grasping the classroom rules and routines. It's been a pleasure to witness their positive attitudes, dedication to their work, and the supportive way they encourage one another as they tackle new tasks. We're incredibly proud of their initial progress and eagerly anticipate the engaging learning experiences to come.
