Autumn 1

22.10.25

This week during our swimming lesson we played with the noodles, mats, hoops and balls. We all had so much fun! Year 4 are making fantastic progress and some of us now have fewer armbands. We can all put our faces in the water to blow bubbles and our confidence is growing with every session.

17.10.25

This week we used our Forest School area to help us to collect ambitious vocabulary to use in our independent writing. The children used their senses to describe how they felt and they all produced a fantastic story. Well done Year 4!

9.10.25

This week we had lots of fun practising our balancing skills. We had a competition to see who could balance on one leg with their eyes closed for the longest and two of our girls were the winners.

1.10.25

We had a wonderful music lesson this week with Mr Prince. We can now connect our own mouthpieces to the clarinet and we are learning how to name and play different notes.

This half term we are using a description toolkit to help us to write a portal story. This week we worked in our table teams to collect ambitious and interesting vocabulary. We added our favourite examples to our working wall and then magpied some ideas into our books.

20.9.25

This week in our Science lessons, we have been learning about states of matter. We got into groups to show how the particles are arranged in a solid, a liquid and a gas. We then examined rice pudding, shaving foam, sand, toothpaste, rice cereal and balloons filled with air to decide which state of matter they could be. Some of them were a little tricky!

12.9.25

This week in our Art lesson we used a range of drawing pencils and charcoal to create tone. We also began to think about using shading to show light and shadow effects.

5.9.25

Welcome to Year 4!

This week we focussed on reconnecting and sharing what is important to us. We played games, chatted and discussed how to safely share our feelings. We worked in table teams to put forward our ideas for a new class motto and then voted for our favourite. The children had such fantastic ideas that we decided to display them all. Amazing insight from amazing children!
