  • Oldham's Mental Health Team- Kindness

    Tue 19 May 2020

As you’ll be aware this week is Mental Health Awareness Week, supported by the Mental Health Foundation who have chosen the theme of ‘Kindness’.  Oldham Mental Health Team have also incorporated gratitude which I’m sure you will agree goes hand in hand with kindness, both to others and to ourselves.

  • Bounce Forward’s Raising Resilience Programme. The final cohort begins on Monday 18th

    Fri 15 May 2020

    Course Overview

    Session 1: Optimism during uncertainty

This session explores the link between what we think, how we feel, and how we behave. Flexible and realistic thinking lies at the heart of resilience: it enables us to do the ‘right’ thing at the right time, so we achieve the best possible outcome.

Session 2: Developing the mental muscle

Helping children gain more control over how they feel and behave. Reframing unhelpful choices, and developing empathy for self and others so they can navigate uncertainty and learn to fail well.

    Session 3: Compassionate communication

Effective communication is essential as our children move into adolescence. We can find ourselves in cycles of nagging and bickering and focusing on the ‘big’ conversations, and with it, we become disconnected. Resilience and compassion are the keys to staying connected.

    Session 4: Mindsets and Energy

Nurturing and developing a growth mindset in our children. Understanding the psychological link between energy, emotions and behaviour.

    Session 5: Parenting to strengths

Identifying the unique strengths of children and ourselves – and how to use them to best effect.

  • Reopening of School

    Wed 13 May 2020 Miss V Oldham

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am sure you have all heard the announcement on Sunday of a planned phased return to school for children from the 1st June, should the government consider it is safe to do so. School is now considering the detailed guidance received yesterday and planning our next steps. This is likely to be very challenging and I will, as always, keep you informed. Please be assured that we will not open until we are 100% prepared.  Our plan for now is to continue to be here for those pupils attending daily, provide learning at home and keep in contact with you and your families during this difficult time.

Thank you for your continued support,

    Miss V Oldham

  • 2.6 Challenge

    Mon 04 May 2020

    2.6 Challenge

You may be aware that the London Marathon should have taken place on Sunday 26th April but was postponed due to COVID-19. This could mean charities losing out on donations, so the 2.6 Challenge was born.

To keep us active and connected, and hopefully have a little fun in the process, the Pastoral and Wellbeing teams are inviting Bare Trees Primary School staff to participate in this event and raise money for charity.

The idea is that school staff will challenge another member of Bare Trees Staff to a task based around the numbers 2.6. This could be something simple like ‘run 2.6km’, or as silly as ‘say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious 26 times’.

Some teachers are already busy taking part in their challenges. We will keep you up to date on the website and Twitter.
