Task Three

Task Three

Mathematics

Activity: Complete subtraction number sentences using the objects

How to do it: Gather some objects from around your home to use, pencils, toys, shoes, plastic cups, anything can be used. Give your child 5 objects, ask them to count the objects, ask them to take 2 away, how many do they have left? Ask them to count by touching the objects. Repeat the question using the language 5 take away 2 equals 3

Repeat using objects up to 10 objects taking away different amounts each time.

If you find it tricky: Model it first and use objects up to 5

Challenge: Use up to 20 objects and write down the number sentence. For example 10 - 3 = 7
