Second half of Autumn Term

Second half of Autumn Term

Our Topic this half term was Superheroes. The children loved this topic. During our Science Lessons Year 1 focused on Materials, Year 1 made waterproof capes, transparent glasses, discovering what materials would make a strong hideout and a fast getaway vehicle.

In Art the children made moving pictures inspired by Superheroes. All children enjoyed exploring the different joins and levers to make a picture move. The children were very impressed with the results.

In Year 1, pupils start learning to code on the computer. We do this in the Computing Suite. Year 1 children have been learning how to make objects move in a game. Here are some of the children’s games.

For Children in Need all of Year 1 made cakes for the Bake Sale, which was a great success. See some of the cakes we made and how much fun we had.

Finally, the children thoroughly enjoyed performing in the Christmas production, ‘Prickly Hay’. Year 1 liked learning the songs and the actions. All Year 1 teachers were very proud of the children.

Next half term is going to be just as exciting! Our new topic is the Titanic and we will be going on our school trip to Eureka.
