Bare Trees Primary School

Second half of Spring

Snow

The children looked out of the window to see the entire playground had been turned white. They were eager to get outside with big grins on their faces, whilst their minds ran away with what they were going to do. We were very lucky to be able to go out onto our school field to have lots of fun in the snow. Look at how much fun we had in the snow.

National Science Week

We took part in a whole school big celebration of Science. We were lucky enough to have a Science Agent ‘James Boffin’ come to school to showcase how amazing Science is through Science experiments. All the children in Reception loved to see the experiments with the Science agent.

Back in our classrooms, the children explored Science further with more Science experiments. Please take a look at what we have done.

Mothers Day

Mothering Sunday was on 11th March 2018. Leading up to this date the children in Reception discussed who was special and important to them. We also discussed what love means.

World Book Day

World Book Day is a celebration! It's a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it's a celebration of reading. In fact, it's the biggest celebration of its kind, designations by UNESCO as a worldwide celebrations of books and reading, and marking in over 100 countries all over the world.

All the Reception teachers enjoyed seeing all the amazing costumes. In Reception we focused on Julia Donaldson, one of the children’s favourite authors.

Easter

For the last two weeks of Spring the children learned about Easter. The children learned how Christians celebrate Easter and its importance to Christianity. Reception enjoyed role playing the story and making props. Some of the children tried Hot Cross Buns, most children enjoyed the taste but others were not too sure!

All Reception made Easter egg cakes with Miss Begum. They enjoyed mixing the chocolate with the shredded wheat to make a nest.
