Design Technology
Autumn Term
During the Autumn Term, we were learning about how to design and create a balanced and nutritious meal. We created a starter, main and a dessert within our classes that followed the proportion of the Eat well Plate. We learnt about seasonality and the food available for our recipes before planning and writing instructions how to cook a balanced meal. We enjoyed preparing and cooking in groups and also designing packaging for our meal.
Spring Term
During the Spring Term, we were learning about how to design and create an electronic case out of felt. We researched and designed our own electronic cases. We created our templates out of paper and evaluated different stitches that we would like to use. We annotated our design before making it out of felt. We enjoyed making the electronic cases and showed resilience when sewing. Here are a few examples:
Summer Term
During the Summer Term, we are learning about how to design and create a robot out of cardboard and Crumble kits. We are researching and designing our own security robot by looking at different toys on the market. We are going to create a template out of cardboard (making sure the Crumble kits fit inside) and add our design to the template before making the robot.
